Cassandra Atkins, who recently completed her junior year at Federal Way High in Washington and is representing Alpha Speed Academy, won the women's 17-18 division triple title on her final attempt with a wind-legal 40-3.50 (12.28m) effort to edge Anika Sukumar of West Linn High in Oregon and a Cornell commit representing Inner Circle Track Club, who jumped 40-3.25 (12.27m) at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Atkins also took third in the 17-18 division long jump final with a wind-legal 19-2.50 (5.85m) performance.
