Indiana University senior Abbie Stechschulte, competing in the Texas Relays in Austin, yesterday wrapped up the collegiate championship in the women's heptathlon.

Her personal-best score of 5,661 -- the second-best point total for such an event in the school's history -- qualified her for the NCAA Mid East Regional Championships on May 30-31 at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Julie Pickler, competing as a professional, won the overall event with 5,990 points.

Also competing as a professional, Trey Hardee reached the Olympic decathlon qualifying standard by finishing first overall with 8,371 points. Florida State's Gonzalo Barroilhet was the top collegiate finisher with 7,828.
