Sellers over 7'6, Cats Improve Regional Standings at Texas Relays - Kansas State University Wildcats Official Athletics SitePublished by
AUSTIN, Texas – On the final day of the decorated Texas Relays, Kansas State recorded five season-best marks that led to top-10 finishes against some of the nation’s elite competitors. The four-day event wrapped up from the Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas, on Saturday and was witness to four regional improvements for Wildcat qualifiers.
Junior Scott Sellers was the Wildcats’ top finisher on the day as he finished second in Section A of the men’s high jump. The native of Katy, Texas, cleared the Olympic A-standard of 7-06.50 (2.30m) to improve to second in the nation among collegiates and third in the world. The defending national champion finished as the runner-up to Nike’s Andra Manson, formerly of host Texas, who cleared the bar at 7-07.75.
The two have had frequent face-offs in the past, including the Big 12 Outdoor Championships where Sellers earned his first conference title. The then-sophomore Wildcat defeated Manson when the two had reverse results as Sellers won the crown with a height of 7-07.75, the current school record, and Manson finished as the runner-up at 7-06.50.
