Branson Ellis from Stephen F. Austin won a close competition with Texas Tech's Zach Bradford at the Texas Relays. Both pole vaulters cleared 5.86m (19-2.75), but Ellis got it on his second try and Bradford got it on his third attempt. Both jumpers failed all three attempts at 5.91m (19-4.75).
